Destinations

As yacht owners, we have spent many years cruising the Mediterranean and find it difficult to choose between Turkey or Greece - both have their own character, and both are stunning locations in which to take a cruising holiday, so I can only say that your choice will be a difficult one to make!

Corfu and Ionian Sea, Greece

Best Times: Mid May to Mid October.

Gouvia Marina is situated a few miles to the north of Corfu town and just a 15 minute transfer from the airport. The marina complex offers all of the facilities that you expect from a top class marina, plus restaurants, bars and cafes which are located on the quayside along with a small selection of shops and a supermarket. You can also enjoy a swim in the swimming pool and there is also a kindergarten, a cricket pitch and a croquet field! A short walk from the marina complex takes you to Kontokali village with a great selection of bars and Tavernas.

Corfu Town has many imposing buildings, elegant mansions, superb palaces, French-style flowered squares and beautiful fortresses, plus there are traditional markets and international standard shopping! There are many cafes and bars where you can rest for a while over a drink and simply take in the atmosphere and watch the world go by!

Our Base is perfectly situated for exploring the delights of the Ionian with hundreds of bays and harbours waiting to be discovered by you!  The Ionian is regarded as one of the most desirable cruising areas in the world, and its not hard to see why. Many of the bays have small Tavernas some with pontoons which you can tie up to for free, (but you will be expected to eat and drink in the Taverna), and the small harbours offer a selection of places to get a drink, meal or stock up on basic provisions.

The food in around the bays and Islands is traditional and home made, and offers good value for money. In the towns the choice is much wider with lots of good quality restaurants offering a wider international menu. Bars in the bigger towns often serve complimentary Mezedes (snacks) with drinks, and the choice of local beers are good, as is some of the local wines!

What ever itinerary you choose for your cruise, you will never be disappointed with what you discover around the Ionian!

Marmaris, Turkey

Best Times: Early May to Late October.

Marmaris is a lively resort with a large selection of bars and restaurants, shops selling a wide selection of goods from international designer brands, the Bazaar, which offers a huge selection of goods from carpets to gold to clothes (don't forget to haggle the price!!) and plenty of nightlife, the centre of which is Bar Street.
Netsel Marina has a selection of restaurants and bars plus a small shopping complex with designer shops, there's a supermarket offering a good selection of provisions including international brands, plus there's a swimming pool with a snack bar that's usually open until around midnight.

Our Base is central to some of the most spectacular cruising grounds in the world with the Datca peninsular to the west and Kemer to the east. The pine clad mountains rise almost vertically from the sea providing fantastic scenery and dotted along the coast there are literally hundreds of bays, some with small bars & restaurants and some deserted all waiting to be discovered by you! There is a selection of large modern marinas in Marmaris, Gocek, Fethiye, Kas, Finike and Kemer plus smaller ports such as Bozburun, Kas or Kalkan all of which charge for the night and then there's the bays - all of them offering a tempting place to stay - if you use the pontoons of any of the restaurants in the bays you will not be charged for the night, but you will be expected to eat there, alternatively you can find yourself a little unoccupied bay, drop anchor and long line onto the shore and enjoy a night of total tranquillity - the choice is yours for the enjoying!

With the fantastic weather in Turkey, our season is longer than some, so you can experience the beauty of our cruising area from early May right up to the end of October!

Food and drink represents good value for money in Turkey, in the small restaurants in the bays you will find simple fare such as a mezze selection to start and usually char grilled meat or oven or pan cooked fish (usually caught that day!) with salads and rice, whilst in the towns the restaurants serve a more sophisticated selection with an international flavour. Effes is the Turkish beer and Raki the traditional aniseed based drink, Turkish wines are very good, matching other European wines in quality.
